Becoming Like Jesus
READ | 2 Peter 3:18

God has a plan for every life, and salvation is just the first step. He wants His adopted children to develop a close “family resemblance.” The Holy Spirit is in charge of transforming us into the likeness of Jesus.

The moment that we trust Christ as our personal Savior, we are, in a spiritual sense, newborn babies: we need to be fed continuously for growth in godliness. Our primary source of food is God’s Word. As we take it in, our old way of thinking—which aims to gratify self above all else—will be replaced by a God-centered mindset. The Spirit uses scriptural truth to replace self-absorbed thoughts and actions with an appreciation for who we are in Christ and a desire to glorify God through obedience.

Meditating on the Word is essential for spiritual growth. We must also be willing to assume responsibility for our mistakes and bring them before the Lord. First John 1:9 teaches us that if we confess our sins, He will forgive us and help us resume right living. He will also show us which of our habits and practices are displeasing to Him. His desire is that we turn away from all such behavior and grow into mature Christians. Our Father expects us to make the necessary changes in attitude, behavior, and lifestyle to conform to Christ’s image.

Renewing our minds, admitting mistakes, and making changes are requirements for spiritual growth. Are you being nourished by God’s Word every day? What changes have you made this year to be more like Jesus?

My Christian friends have seen alot of growth in me and they also at the same time accept me where Im at.The ones I struggle with are those that come into my life acting like they are there for me and then they backstab me one way down the line and try to end our friendship.Instead of hurting me the way they do they need to admit they are wrong .God knows where they are wrong and they need to make it right and ask forgiveness. Instead of leave me stranded in the hurt.I havenever found anything in the Bible that says their actions are right. It doesnt matter how strong Christian they are, when they are wrong, admit ,forgive and heal and help the offended heal not leaving them feeling like crap.

Nancy, I know that nothing can help you unless I do this. You have asked me to do both of these things for almost 4 months now since I can't be on the Internet instantly and continuously as I used to be for you. I told you why. That will not change, but perhaps your heart will heal. Take care.

I apologize and I ask for your forgiveness. I pray that your hurt, pain, anger, and abandonment issues be healed by God so that you can have wholeness and mental health one day.

You are very fortunate to have so many Christian friends. I saw your growth also and told you and others about it many, many times. Cherish each and everyone of your friends God bless you and keep you.

I accept your forgivesness and I ask your forgiveness on my anger and hurts .May God begin to heal us now if you let Him.You say take care God Bless and keep you. Did God walk out on anyone that troubled him and told them He couldnt be there for them?Did He turn his back on people. I dont think so.I dont think He wants that from us either. He put you and me together for a reason.

I still dont understand whyyour doing all the silence stuff with me.Its not helping my mental illness what HELPED my illness was having you to talk to at nights. You know that .Your silence and ignorance is doing nothing but keeping me in emotional pain. You really want that for me?This stuff belongs in PMs /emails in private. Its stupid that I have to put my pain out on the boards unless your wanting everyone to see how hurt I am.Dont tell me to take care and God Bless and keep me that sounds like your throwing me away.Im not trash .Stop pushing me away. God never treated his people like this .Why should you?

I should have NEVER been the one for you to cut ,its only done us hurt and its up to YOU to mend it.

why wont you call me on the phone so we can talk and share and maybe begin to heal. I ve only got one phone call from you in the whole 3 yrs weve known each other.Dont I deserve better?
